decided to stop dieting and weighing myself over a year ago. It's one of
the best decisions I have made in my life. I have wasted over ten years
of my life being obsessed with what was going in my mouth, how much I
weighed or didn't weigh and feeling inadequate if it wasn't perfect (it
never was). Not only did my mental health suffer, but so did my dreams.
What could I have done if I put that energy into cultivating my dreams instead of
some bullshit idea that thin meant worthy? I don't know, but I can't
waste anymore time not knowing. So I quit that shit and I'm very excited
to see where it takes me. Watch my video if you want to hear more
about my experience!
I have a new YouTube video up on my channel today. In this video I talk about how hard and slow personal growth can be at times. I have been doing so much deep soul work lately and at times it's hard to stay motivated to keep going. I have finally started to feel creative again and I wanted to make a little update video. Please watch it below!
If you can relate to anything I spoke about in my video, please leave a comment below. Remember that the work you are doing now is going to last for your lifetime and beyond and is so worth it (even if it doesn't seem like it now). Thank you so much for watching! Sara
I have successfully meditated for 200 consecutive days! Wow...I am
beyond proud of myself. I have tried (and failed) many times at
integrating a daily meditation practice into my life, and I'm happy to
say that it is now a reality.
I wanted to develop a
daily meditation practice since I went to a silent meditation retreat about 6
years ago. There I witnessed first hand the power of awareness and the
effect it had on my life. Sitting down and meditating meant tuning in
and checking in with myself. I started to become acutely aware of
thoughts and feelings that I was either ignoring or avoiding, and I began to also
practice letting them go. After 4 days of meditating pretty much all
day, I felt lighter and more connected to myself. I was not connected to
the self that was the voice of the constant commentary in my head, but
instead to my soul self that had answers to questions that I had
forgotten to ask. It was a life changing experience for me and after
feeling such a strong connection to my soul, I knew meditation was a
practice that I needed to do everyday.
said, I tried and failed many many times. Meditation can be tedious and
uncomfortable both physically and emotionally. After awhile I started to
notice that I would get into a habit of mediating on a regular basis
and then I would stop. After many times of repeating this pattern, I
realized that I would start to really see who and where I was in my life
and I wouldn't want to do it anymore. I had intuitions about ways that I
needed to change my life, or I would feel emotions that I didn't want
to feel. As a result, I would put my practice on the back burner again.
Things got too real, and I wasn't completely ready to look that deeply
at myself or my life. This cycle continued for many years until one day,
out of the blue, I decided to listen to my soul and just do it.
day was December 31, 2014! Here I am 200 days later. I have never felt
more connected to myself, and I know that meditation has a lot to do
with that. Here's what I have discovered on my mediation journey so far:
-how to cultivate a deep connection to my soul
-how to disconnect from my thoughts
-I have the power to not believe the bullshit that I tell myself regularly
-how to truly be with my feelings and let them go, rather than hang on to them
-doing something consistently is better than perfection
-real change and results come with repetition
Thank you so much for reading! If you meditate a little or a lot, leave a comment as I would love to talk about it with you!
I was lucky enough to convince my good friend Kayla to do the Bean Boozled Challenge with me last week. I asked her because she is as dramatic as I am and I knew it would make for good TV. Boy was I right!
Sparkles also decided to make a special appearance and do the challenge with us! She was only allowed to have the dog food jelly bean and instead of hating it, she thoroughly enjoyed it! Naturally.
If you are in the mood to laugh your ass off, come watch our video!
I have been sober since October 1, 2013. It was one of the most
challenging and rewarding decisions of my life. In my new video I talk
about what made me decide to get sober, and how my experience has been before and after.
If you have any personal stories you would like to share, I would be so honored to hear them. Also if you are wanting to know anything about my journey do not hesitate to ask in the comments below!
Thank you so much for watching and have an awesome day!
I recently made this amazing constellation light canvas and I am beyond happy with how it turned out!
I got the idea a very long time ago when I saw the light canvas below in a Martha Stewart magazine:
While I loved the idea, the original was a little too elegant for me. I thought that I would do something a little more edgy, and had the idea to make it a galaxy canvas.
My procrastination got the best of me and I never got around to making it. This was probably the one and only time my procrastination worked in my favour, because one of my favourite YouTube channel's Thread Banger decided to do their own constellation version of the lighted canvas. My galaxy idea was great, but this was even better!
Thread Banger's Tutorial
Instead of picking random constellations, I decided to put the constellations of my boyfriend's and my families. I have our parents, siblings, and of course our animals constellations on the canvas. I am really happy with how it turned out! Not only is it super cool looking, but it is a great source of subtle light in our apartment.
This is a great time to get Christmas lights on sale! If you do decide to make this or your version of this, please tag me in your post on Instagram (@sarapysessions). I would love to see your work!
Want to hear me talk about my life for 20 minutes?! Well look no further! This was one of the funnest videos for me to film, whilst being the most daunting video to edit. SO MANY FACTS! Thank you SO MUCH for supporting my YouTube channel and being awesome in general!
